A person isn’t merely what they type, say, or create. They are their smile, how they stand when they think nobody is watching, their generosity, the grip of their handshake, their spontaneity.

And in the case of Kyle Steed, their vertical stature.

For me, I find blogging and online social networking as a cathartic way to confront what I see wrong in my immediate sphere of influence. But in keeping it online, I dilute any impact I might have right where I am.

And by “impact”, I mean any kind of influence whether it is creating change, embracing relationships, whatever. Too often, what I see wrong in my immediate sphere of influence… is me. Or my attitude. Something that is easy to change on the internet by say… editing my comments before I post them… but not so easy to change when I’m face to face with the world and the words are already out of my mouth.
